Presentation of the new study about EU-Russia sanctions

On 22 March Ricardo Giucci, Director of Berlin Economics, and Woldemar Walter, Analyst, presented the study „The economic impact of EU-Russia sanctions on the EU: Plausibility check of existing studies using a simple estimation” in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The study provides a critical assessment of the extent of the sanctions-related decrease of the EU GDP as estimated by previous analyses. Berlin Economics estimates a much smaller impact amounting to EUR 4-7 bn or 0.03-0-05% of the European GDP respectively.

Afterwards the participants, who were representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry for Economy and Energy, discussed the results of the presentation.
