Insights from the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025
Our team members Robert Kirchner, Pavel Bilek, Garry Poluschkin were in Rome for the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 from 10th to 11th of July 2025 – the fourth annual political conference focused on Ukraine’s recovery and long-term reconstruction following Russia’s war of aggression.

Exchanging views with numerous stakeholders from governments, international organisations, financial institutions, businesses and civil society provided us with insights into the various perspectives on a question that preoccupied all conference participants: What does sustainable reconstruction look like, and how can it serve to restore physical infrastructure and enable Ukraine to thrive in a technology-based global economy in the long term?
The question was addressed at several side events, organised by the BMWE, UNDP Ukraine and Deloitte, among others, with input from Berlin Economics:
- Robert Kirchner presented promising sectors for German-Ukrainian economic cooperation at an event hosted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. Together with Garry Poluschkin, he also shared findings on green job development in Ukraine during a joint session by the Ministry of Energy and Deloitte Ukraine.
- UNDP’s contribution focused on regional energy resilience, with our Senior Energy Consultant Pavel Bilek highlighting the potential of green technology manufacturing driving innovation and a technology-based enconomy. He also contributed to a roundtable co-hosted by the Ukraine Facility Platform and Berlin Economics, presenting insights on green technology value chains as a driver of recovery.
Many thanks to all our partners and all participants for the valuable exchange and shared commitment to Ukraine’s recovery and resilience!
