Dr Klaus Wohlrabe

 ifo Center for Macroeconomics and Surveys, Deputy Head

Dr Klaus Wohlrabe is Deputy Director of the ifo Center for Macroeconomics and Surveys and Head of the Department for Surveys.

He studied economics at the Technical University of Dresden. From 2004 to 2009 he was a PhD student at the ifo Institute for Economic Research. He received his doctorate (summa cum laude) at the University of Munich in 2009. His thesis dealt with the forecasting of mixed-frequency time series models. After being a postdoc Research Fellow at the ifo Institute he became head of the ifo surveys in 2012 and has been working in this position ever since.

He is responsible for all surveys conducted by the ifo Institute, both in terms of methodology,interpretation and presentation. He is also in charge of the ifo Business Climate Index for Germany. Since 2020 he has been supporting the activities of Berlin Economics in an advisory capacity in the field of surveys and business climate indices.
