Dr Marius Clemens

Senior Researcher, DIW Berlin

Dr. Marius Clemens is senior researcher at the Department of Forecasting and Economic Policy at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) and an expert for dynamic modelling, public finance forecasting and medium-term projection.

Before he joined the DIW Berlin he completed his PhD in Economics at the University of Potsdam where he has participated in the DFG project “International Integration in Heterogenous Agent Economies with Capital Market Imperfections”.

His recent research focuses on macroeconomic causes and consequences of labour market and fiscal integration (i.e. labour market migration, fiscal union), as well as the effects of fiscal policy. Hereby, he uses theoretical and estimated DSGE models, time series and panel data models.

Marius Clemens is a member of the German “Working Party on Tax Revenue Estimates” since May 2019. Furthermore, he is involved in the public finance and output gap estimation at the “Joint Economic Forecast” for many years. The topics of public finance and medium-term economic developments are strongly connected in his research, forecast and policy advisory activities.
